Mauganj, March 8: A decomposed body of an unidentified man was found on Saturday evening near a raw drain, surrounded by bushes along the National Highway in Mauganj district, Madhya Pradesh.
According to police officer Sandeep Bhartiya from the Mauganj police station, the body was in a severely decayed state, indicating it had likely been discarded around 10 to 15 days prior. The deceased is estimated to be between 30 and 35 years old.
The discovery was made by a truck driver who had stopped briefly near the highway and noticed a strong odor coming from the vicinity. Upon investigation, he found the body approximately 15 meters away from the National Highway, which connects Rewa to Mirzapur-Banaras in Uttar Pradesh. The driver promptly informed a nearby shop owner, who then contacted the police by dialing 112. The body has since been sent for a post-mortem examination.
Sandeep Bhartiya stated that the Mauganj police are making every effort to identify the deceased. Information has been shared with nearby police stations, and missing person reports from Mauganj, as well as neighboring districts Rewa and Sidhi, are currently being examined.
He mentioned to the news agency that they are reviewing reports of missing individuals filed at surrounding police stations. Efforts to identify the young man are ongoing. Due to the advanced state of decomposition, identification is proving to be quite challenging. They are awaiting the autopsy report or any claims from relatives.
The area where the body was found consists of agricultural land outside Mauganj city, where only a few stalls and food carts are visible during the day along the roadside. The investigation is being conducted from various angles, and it is hoped that the autopsy report will provide clearer information.
