
Ghaziabad, June 3: In a significant development in the high-profile Surya murder case, police have successfully apprehended Sarik Mewati, a key suspect with a bounty of 25,000 rupees on his head. The arrest took place in the Khoda police jurisdiction, bringing all major accused in this shocking murder case under the law.
According to police reports, the arrested individual has been identified as 20-year-old Sarik Mewati, son of a resident from Navneet Vihar, Khoda Colony. He had been evading capture for several days, frequently changing his location to avoid arrest. The police had announced a reward of 25,000 rupees for information leading to his capture.
On May 28, Surya, a local resident, was brutally attacked with a knife by several assailants in the Khoda area. He sustained severe injuries and was rushed to Fortis Hospital in Noida for immediate treatment. Despite the doctors’ best efforts, Surya succumbed to his injuries during treatment. The incident sparked outrage among the victim’s family, leading to increased pressure on the police for the swift arrest of the culprits.
In light of the case’s seriousness, the Khoda police registered a case of murder and other serious charges, initiating an investigation. Earlier, they had already arrested three other suspects involved in the incident: Nawab, Farhan, and Atiq.
Meanwhile, the main suspect, Sarik Mewati, remained at large until Wednesday when police received a tip-off about his whereabouts near the Indirapuram underpass area. Acting on this information, the Khoda police set up a perimeter and successfully captured him.
Police officials stated that further legal action against the suspect is underway, and they are also investigating his criminal history and potential involvement in other cases.
