
Amritsar, July 15: Amritsar police have achieved a significant breakthrough by uncovering a cross-border terrorist conspiracy. Authorities arrested one suspect and seized a hand grenade, a 9mm Glock pistol, and four live cartridges from his possession.
The police stated that this operation is a major success in thwarting plans that could disrupt peace and law and order in Punjab. Initial investigations revealed that the arrested individual was in contact with Pakistan-based ISI handlers via the social media platform Instagram.
According to investigative agencies, the suspect received instructions to target police establishments and public places to instill fear and disrupt law and order in the state.
Police officials reported that the seized weapons and explosives have been sent for forensic analysis. Intensive questioning of the suspect is underway to gather crucial information about the entire terrorist network, including local contacts and handlers operating from across the border.
An FIR has been registered at the Cantt police station in Amritsar under the relevant sections. Authorities confirmed that a detailed investigation is ongoing, and efforts are being made to identify and apprehend other suspects and their accomplices linked to this network.
Punjab police clarified that their campaign against cross-border terrorist modules and criminal networks will continue unabated. They emphasized that maintaining peace, security, and the safety of citizens is their top priority, and no terrorist or anti-national activity will be allowed to succeed.
Currently, investigative agencies are also examining the suspect’s digital devices, social media contacts, and financial transactions to uncover the entire network involved in this conspiracy. Punjab police assured that strict action will be taken against everyone involved in this case according to the law.
