Amritsar, July 15: Amritsar police have claimed to uncover a terror plot allegedly orchestrated from across the border. Authorities arrested one suspect, seizing a hand grenade, four cartridges, and a 9mm Glock pistol from him.
According to police, preliminary investigations revealed that the arrested individual had been in contact with alleged ISI handlers located abroad via the social media platform Instagram. The inquiry also indicated that the suspect received instructions to target police stations and public places in Punjab, aiming to disrupt peace and law enforcement.
Officials stated that the suspect is currently being interrogated, and efforts are underway to identify others connected to his network. The police are working to determine who else may be involved in this plot and what kind of assistance or directives were being received from across the border.
An FIR has been filed at the Cantonment Police Station in Amritsar regarding this case. The police have confirmed that investigations are ongoing to trace the entire network and reach other suspects and handlers involved.
The Amritsar Commissionerate Police emphasized their continuous efforts to dismantle the terror network operating from across the border and ensure public safety within the state. They indicated that further legal actions would be taken based on the facts emerging from the investigation.
It is noteworthy that security agencies and police are consistently monitoring attempts by individuals across the border to lure youth into terrorist activities through social media. This operation by Amritsar police is considered significant in this ongoing effort.
