Major Anti-Corruption Operation in Jaipur: Three Bengaluru Police Officers Arrested for Bribery

Jaipur, June 14: The Rajasthan Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has uncovered a shocking case in Jaipur. ACB officials apprehended three police officers from Bengaluru while they were accepting bribes.

The arrested officers include Sub-Inspector Anita, Head Constable Yatish Kumar, and Head Constable Utpappa. They had traveled to Jaipur in connection with an investigation into a dowry harassment case. According to the ACB, the accused demanded a bribe of 200,000 rupees from the complainant in exchange for a favorable report in the case. After negotiations, both parties agreed on an initial payment of 40,000 rupees.

On the morning of June 14, the ACB team executed a trap operation at Hotel Gangaur. As soon as the officers received the 40,000 rupees, they were caught red-handed. The operation was led by ASP Bhupendra Chaudhary, with DIG Om Prakash Meena overseeing the entire process. This action was taken under the directives of Rajasthan Police Director General Govind Gupta and ADG Smita Srivastava.

ACB officials reported that the Bengaluru police officers were using the investigation into the dowry case as a pretext to extort money. When the complainant refused to pay the bribe, the accused threatened to implicate them in the case. Following this, the complainant contacted the ACB, leading to the trap operation.

Interrogation of the three arrested officers is ongoing. The ACB is also investigating whether these officers were acting alone or if a higher authority was involved.

Senior officials of the Rajasthan Police have stated that, regardless of the officers’ home state, corruption will not be tolerated. As of now, there has been no official response from the Bengaluru Police.
