Dilip Ghosh Criticizes Mamata Banerjees Voter List Demand, Calls for Change in Political Tactics

Kolkata, October 13 (Daily Kiran) : Kolkata’s political landscape has intensified as former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s call for elections based on an old voter list has drawn sharp criticism from Cabinet Minister Dilip Ghosh. Ghosh accused the Trinamool Congress of relying on outdated strategies, suggesting that their approach of creating voters from outside the state is no longer viable in contemporary politics.

Speaking to the media in Newtown, Ghosh stated, “Will they win with their voter list, their police, and their officials? The people of Bengal gave them 15 years to prove themselves. Instead, they ruined the state. Now we are taking action. Bringing in outsiders to create voters and expecting them to cast votes will not work anymore.”

Ghosh also targeted Banerjee’s planned protests against the Chief Election Commissioner, labeling it as a habitual tactic of hers. He claimed that such actions stem from her past failures, hinting at the decline of her party’s influence. “The public is watching, and they will decide the future,” he added.

Addressing allegations regarding the removal of names from the voter list, Ghosh assured that no genuine voter’s name would be eliminated. He referenced the Supreme Court‘s stance on the matter, reinforcing that the ongoing verification process is legitimate. “We need to expedite the process and clarify the names currently under review. Eligible voters will be included, while ineligible ones will be removed. Those politicizing this issue can do as they please,” he remarked.

In response to accusations of undermining democracy, Ghosh defended his position, stating, “It is democracy that allows you to make such statements and protest in the streets. Remember the Emergency and what happened to your leaders? Stop making baseless claims. The public is aware of everything.”
