BJP Accuses Rahul Gandhi of Undermining Judiciary and Election Commission

New Delhi, October 13 (Daily Kiran) : BJP leaders, including MP Jagdambika Pal and Telangana BJP president Ramchandra Rao, have accused Rahul Gandhi of dragging the Supreme Court and the judiciary into political disputes over the SIR process. Rao stated that the Congress party is misleading the public while attempting to weaken the Election Commission and the judiciary.

In a recent conversation, Ramchandra Rao asserted, “Rahul Gandhi is involving the Supreme Court and the judiciary in political controversies. As the leader of the opposition and a figure in a constitutional position, he should recognize that the Supreme Court has already clarified its stance on the SIR and provided guidelines that the Election Commission is following. Changes to ‘Form 6’ were made only after directions from the Supreme Court, following the Bihar SIR.” He criticized the Congress party for attempting to mislead the public and diminish the dignity of the Election Commission and the Supreme Court.

Rao further emphasized, “Their march to the Supreme Court is an insult to the judiciary and the legal profession. If they have grievances, they should have their lawyers file petitions. Marching to the Supreme Court as if it were a venue for resolving political disputes is absurd. We oppose their actions, as the sanctity and independence of the Supreme Court must be upheld. Political disagreements can be aired on the streets, but the Supreme Court should not be dragged into such disputes.”

In response to the Indie alliance leaders filing petitions against the Election Commission regarding alleged irregularities in the SIR, BJP MP Jagdambika Pal remarked, “They have the right to do so. The Chief Justice has stated that the doors of the Supreme Court are open to everyone. However, has there ever been a leader in the opposition since independence who would march against the judiciary? They are going to submit memorandums to the Supreme Court. Rahul Gandhi lacks knowledge of the Constitution, parliamentary traditions, and the independence and impartiality of the judiciary.”

Bihar BJP president Sanjay Sarawagi criticized Rahul Gandhi’s attempts to exert political pressure on the judiciary by gathering crowds on the streets. He described this as a direct affront to the judiciary. “The Chief Justice has made it clear that political memorandums cannot be accepted in pending cases. Nevertheless, the spectacle with Akhilesh Yadav and Tejashwi Yadav reflects desperation. It is disgraceful to label those who throw stones at the police as representatives of democracy. The Supreme Court is a place for seeking justice, not a platform for Congress’s electoral theatrics.”

During the march to the Supreme Court, Rahul Gandhi faced allegations of pushing a journalist. Sarawagi commented on this, stating, “This situation is ridiculous. Rahul Gandhi’s behavior, including improperly touching a female police officer and striking a party worker, is evident. Party workers should be prioritized, but it seems nothing is more important than Rahul Gandhi himself. His actions, including elbowing someone and inappropriately touching a police officer, are unacceptable.”
