Kyiv, October 13 (Daily Kiran) : Russian forces launched deadly attacks on Ukraine on Monday evening, resulting in the deaths of two individuals and injuries to nine others, as reported by President Volodymyr Zelensky. This escalation comes despite ongoing discussions about a potential ceasefire between the two nations.
While U.S. President Donald Trump advocates for a ceasefire, the reality on the ground remains starkly different. Zelensky took to the social media platform X to condemn the attacks, stating, “Russia continues to spread terror against our people. They are targeting residential buildings and taking lives.” He confirmed that the attack involved a “Shahed” drone hitting a high-rise building in Kyiv. Emergency services managed to extinguish the fire caused by the drone strike.
In his post, Zelensky emphasized the urgent need for increased pressure on Russia, asserting, “This is further evidence that more pressure needs to be applied to Russia. They are the ones perpetrating these brutal attacks and prolonging the war.” He expressed hope that the U.S. would recognize the signals from Russia and take decisive action to compel an end to the conflict.
In response to the attacks and reports of ceasefire violations, Trump stated he needed to assess the full situation. He noted that accountability for ceasefire breaches should not rest solely with Russia, as both sides have committed violations. Trump highlighted the rising human toll of the conflict, mentioning that 32,000 lives have been lost this month alone, calling the situation tragic. He urged both parties to come together to find a resolution.
