Maharashtra CM Addresses Fuel Shortage Rumors, Assures No Lockdown

Mumbai, March 27: Amid rumors of fuel shortages and potential lockdowns, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has reassured the public that the situation in the state is completely normal. He emphasized that there is no shortage of petrol or diesel and that conditions are under control.

Fadnavis expressed gratitude to the central government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for reducing the excise duty on petrol and diesel by ₹10 per liter during these challenging times. He stated that oil companies would absorb this cost, ensuring that citizens would not face any additional financial burden.

While some neighboring countries are experiencing shutdowns, he noted that India remains stable with no fuel shortages. He praised the diplomatic efforts of the Prime Minister and the central government.

The Chief Minister mentioned that Maharashtra currently has about a month’s worth of petrol stock. However, he urged citizens not to panic and hoard fuel, as this could create an artificial shortage. He advised, “Use fuel as you normally would.”

Regarding gas supply, he assured that the situation is also normal. He encouraged anyone facing extortion related to gas prices to report the incident.

Fadnavis took a firm stance against lockdown rumors, stating that there would be no lockdown in the state. He warned that strict action would be taken against those spreading false or misleading information on social media.

In response to a viral video involving Narhari Jirwal, Fadnavis revealed that Jirwal had contacted him, claiming the video was edited. He advised Jirwal to file a formal complaint, calling the matter serious and warranting appropriate action.

On the issue involving Ashok Kharat, the Chief Minister clarified that merely being photographed with someone does not constitute grounds for action. He assured that if any involvement is established, appropriate measures would be taken. He also indicated that more cases would emerge as people gradually come forward.

Furthermore, he warned that sharing videos or footage of victimized women on social media, or commenting on such content, is a crime. Strict legal action will be taken against offenders.
