New Delhi, April 2: Pregnancy brings various challenges for women, and one common issue is indigestion or loss of appetite. Many women experience a lack of desire to eat, feeling heavy or uncomfortable in their stomachs. While this is entirely normal, ignoring it can affect both the mother and baby’s health. Therefore, it is crucial to recognize the symptoms and take appropriate measures promptly.
Drinking warm water is highly beneficial during pregnancy. Sipping warm water throughout the day helps keep the stomach light and comfortable. Opt for light and easily digestible foods. Heavy, oily, or stale meals can burden the stomach and exacerbate indigestion.
Certain home spices and herbal remedies can also be very helpful. Ingredients like cumin, carom seeds, fennel, asafoetida, and ginger effectively alleviate stomach issues. Use these sparingly in your meals. Always consume fresh and warm food. Cold or leftover meals increase the risk of stomach problems.
There are some simple home remedies as well. Taking 1-2 grams of roasted cumin powder before meals can help with loss of appetite or indigestion. If necessary, this can be done for up to a week. Consuming ginger and coriander powder mixed with honey or jaggery twice a day also helps keep the stomach light.
Additionally, a mixture of haritaki, ginger, ajmoda, and rock salt can be very beneficial. Taking this in doses of 3-6 grams twice daily reduces indigestion and loss of appetite. Continue this remedy until the problem is completely resolved.
If severe symptoms such as jaundice, significant weight loss, or intense abdominal pain occur alongside indigestion, consult a doctor immediately. Sometimes, these can indicate a more serious issue.
