New Delhi, April 2: An Inter-Ministerial Committee meeting, formed in response to the crisis in West Asia, is scheduled for Thursday. The meeting will be chaired by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh at 5 PM in Kartavya Bhawan. The agenda includes a review of the uninterrupted supply of LPG and fertilizers, as well as discussions on curbing black marketing and hoarding.
Earlier, on April 1, Prime Minister Narendra Modi presided over a special meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) at 7 Lok Kalyan Marg. This meeting reviewed actions taken by various ministries and departments and discussed further steps in light of the ongoing conflict in West Asia.
The Cabinet Secretary provided updates on measures taken to ensure the supply of petroleum products, particularly LNG and LPG, as well as adequate electricity availability. Efforts are underway to diversify sources for LPG procurement, with new supplies being initiated from various countries. Similarly, liquefied natural gas (LNG) is also being sourced from different nations.
Additionally, proposed measures to address emerging challenges in various sectors, including agriculture, civil aviation, shipping, and logistics, were discussed.
The Prime Minister assessed the availability of essential goods for the common man. He emphasized the importance of ensuring fertilizer availability during the Kharif and Rabi seasons. He stated that every possible effort should be made to protect citizens from the impacts of this conflict. The Prime Minister also stressed the need for accurate information dissemination to counter misinformation and rumors. He directed all relevant departments to take necessary steps to alleviate the problems faced by citizens and sectors affected by the current global situation.
