Magistrial Inquiry Ordered into Violent Labor Protests in Gautam Buddh Nagar

Noida, May 7: A magistrial inquiry will be conducted into the violent incidents that occurred during labor protests on April 13 in Gautam Buddh Nagar. Ajay Kumar, the presiding officer of the special court and additional police commissioner, announced that evidence is being sought from the public in the form of oral, written, and electronic submissions.

According to the administration, laborers and workers staged protests in the Phase-2 and Sector-63 police station areas on April 13. Tensions escalated at several locations, leading to violent incidents that disrupted law and order. The police had to resort to mild force to control the situation.

The administration reported that disturbances, vandalism, and chaos emerged in certain areas during the protests. Given the severity of the situation, the government has decided to initiate a magistrial inquiry into the entire episode. The primary aim of the investigation is to determine the causes and circumstances that led to the violent protests, identify responsible individuals or organizations, and ascertain if any party incited the laborers.

Ajay Kumar has been appointed to oversee this thorough magistrial inquiry. He stated that anyone with information, videos, audio recordings, photos, or other electronic evidence related to the incident can present them to the investigation team. Witnesses can also provide their oral or written statements. The administration has clarified that all evidence must be submitted by May 15, 2026. Individuals can visit the police lines at the Gautam Buddh Nagar Deputy Commissioner’s office on any working day between 11 AM and 3 PM.

The administration emphasized that the inquiry will be conducted with complete transparency and fairness to uncover the actual reasons behind the incident and to prevent such occurrences in the future.
