Varanasi, July 30: On the occasion of the 650th birth anniversary of Sant Shiro Mani Guru Ravidas, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath made a significant announcement on Wednesday. He stated that Bhadohi will once again be known as ‘Sant Ravidas Nagar,’ and necessary actions will be taken in this regard.
While inaugurating the BJP’s ‘Samrasata Sankalp Abhiyan’ at the birthplace of Sant Ravidas in Seer Govardhan, the Chief Minister emphasized that Sant Ravidas symbolizes social harmony, equality, and humanity. He accused the opposition of neglecting the respect for great personalities and engaging in politics that divides society based on caste.
CM Yogi remarked that Sant Guru Ravidas envisioned a society free from caste and discrimination. His words, “I wish for a kingdom where everyone receives food,” continue to guide the path of social justice. He noted that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the central government has provided free rations to 810 million people without discrimination, embodying the ideals of Sant Ravidas’s harmonious society.
He highlighted that the central government has honored great personalities by naming Jalandhar Airport after Sant Guru Ravidas and Ayodhya Airport after Maharishi Valmiki. However, those who engage in divisive politics do not accept such decisions. The Chief Minister targeted the Samajwadi Party, stating that the previous government removed Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s name from the Kannauj Medical College, a decision that his government has since reversed. He also mentioned that the Auraiya Medical College has been named after Lokmata Ahilyabai Holkar, while the previous government had changed the name of the district named after Sant Ravidas.
He stated, “Bhadohi will again be known as Sant Ravidas Nagar. Our government will take necessary actions in this direction on the occasion of Sant Ravidas’s 650th birth anniversary.”
The Chief Minister further announced that the state government will construct canopies at locations where statues of Sant Guru Ravidas, Maharishi Valmiki, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, and other personalities associated with social justice are installed without canopies. He emphasized that Sant Ravidas’s life conveys a message of social harmony, equality, and humanity. It is essential to convey his thoughts to the new generation to strengthen the spirit of harmony, social justice, and national unity in society.
During the event, Lal Singh Arya, the national president of the BJP’s Scheduled Front, stated that Sant Ravidas delivered a message of equality and brotherhood to a society plagued by inequality.
BJP state president Pankaj Chaudhary remarked that Sant Ravidas’s thoughts continue to inspire social change, and the BJP is committed to spreading his legacy to the masses.
BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh shared that the sacred soil from Sant Ravidas’s birthplace has been worshipped and collected in 131 pots. This soil will be distributed to over 20,000 locations across the country to promote the message of harmony and social unity propagated by Sant Ravidas.
