Guwahati, July 30: The Indian Army’s relief and rescue operations continue amid the devastating floods in Assam.
On Wednesday, the Army shared updates on social media platform X, stating that under ‘Operation Jal Rahat,’ troops are working alongside civil administration, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and local agencies to provide ongoing humanitarian assistance in affected areas.
The Army reported that Spear Corps personnel are engaged in safely evacuating stranded individuals, providing medical aid, restoring damaged communication routes, and delivering relief supplies to remote regions. Innovative use of logistic drones is also being implemented to reach families in hard-to-access areas.
Since the launch of Operation Jal Rahat, over 1,000 civilians have been rescued. Additionally, more than 200 individuals have received medical assistance to ensure essential health services are available in flood-affected regions.
The Indian Army has distributed 19 tons of grain as part of the relief efforts. More than 30,500 food packets and over 43,000 liters of drinking water have also been delivered to those in need. The relief supplies include fresh vegetables, milk, clothing, hygiene kits, and other essential items.
The Army reaffirmed its commitment to stand firmly with the people of Assam, promising to continue its humanitarian mission to provide relief, support, and reassurance wherever needed. Troops remain steadfast in their efforts to assist flood-affected individuals in every possible way.
