New Delhi, July 29: Following continuous rainfall, several areas in the capital have been inundated, prompting the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to target the government. AAP’s national convenor Arvind Kejriwal, along with Delhi state president Saurabh Bhardwaj and Tilak Nagar MLA Jarnail Singh, took to social media to claim that rainwater has flooded the streets, buses, and metro stations, causing significant inconvenience to the public.
In a social media post, Kejriwal shared videos of the flooding during the rain, stating that it has been two years since the BJP government took charge in Delhi, yet the condition of the capital continues to deteriorate. He alleged that such a situation was never witnessed during his tenure. Kejriwal emphasized that the flooding in buses and metro stations reflects the city’s failing infrastructure.
He accused the government of completely mismanaging Delhi’s systems. Meanwhile, AAP’s Delhi state president Saurabh Bhardwaj also shared a video on social media, mocking the government. He remarked that the heavy flooding made Delhi’s streets resemble Venice, suggesting that it seemed as if cruise and water sports services had been launched in the capital.
Bhardwaj sarcastically noted that the Chief Minister has fulfilled his first promise in this manner, adding that the BJP should now seek votes based solely on areas like Minto Bridge, known for flooding.
Tilak Nagar MLA Jarnail Singh protested against the government by rowing a boat through the flooded streets. He stated that traveling in Delhi now requires not just a car or bike, but also a boat. Singh claimed that he needed to travel from Tilak Nagar to Dhaula Kuan, but heavy flooding on PWD roads made it nearly impossible.
He criticized the government for spending hundreds of crores annually on drain cleaning, yet failing to address the ground realities, resulting in recurring flooding issues every monsoon.
Singh pointed out that the rain has disrupted transportation in Delhi, leaving many residents’ lives in disarray. He accused the government of completely failing the capital’s infrastructure, asserting that all of its ‘engines’ have now stalled, and Delhi urgently requires better administration.
