Mumbai, June 13: The Madhya Pradesh government is making swift progress towards implementing the proposed Uniform Civil Code (UCC). Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced that the UCC policy will be shaped by public suggestions.
During a video conferencing meeting with district collectors focused on the UCC awareness campaign, CM Yadav emphasized that the policy will be developed based on input from the general public. He highlighted the importance of public participation for effective policy-making and urged residents to contribute their suggestions. Awareness campaigns will be conducted across all districts to encourage citizens to share their opinions, both in urban and rural areas.
CM Yadav instructed that activities should be organized in schools and colleges at the urban level. Discussions should also be held in social and business organizations, including the Bar Council, to gather public feedback. Government officials are encouraged to provide their suggestions regarding the UCC. Additionally, employment assistants and panchayat secretaries at the village level should promote discussions on this topic. Special village meetings can also be organized for this purpose. All district collectors have been directed to prioritize these activities.
The Chief Minister stated that suggestions regarding the UCC will be accepted until June 22. A dedicated website has been launched for this purpose, making the suggestion process straightforward. Participants need to fill out a form with their name, gender, religion, division, district, address, and mobile number. They will answer a total of 12 questions with a simple yes or no. Suggestions can be submitted after verification through a mobile OTP.
He also stressed the need to encourage the participation of public representatives to elaborate on the objectives and processes of the UCC. Furthermore, he directed the promotion of awareness through self-help groups, women’s organizations, and social groups.
