Madhya Pradesh Emerges as a Global Film Tourism Hub Under Chief Minister Mohan Yadavs Vision

Bhopal, May 13: Madhya Pradesh is set to gain a unique identity on the global stage for its rural tourism and rich cultural heritage. Under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board is making continuous efforts to establish the state as a ‘Global Filming Hub.’

As part of this initiative, the international television series ‘Rural Tourism of the World,’ produced by Spain’s renowned Colors Communication Group, has been filmed across various tourist locations in the state. This prestigious project will showcase Madhya Pradesh’s unique lifestyle and tourist attractions to over 80 countries, providing a significant boost to the state’s tourism potential on an international level.

The natural beauty and vibrant tribal culture of Chhindwara district have deeply impressed the Spanish film crew. The team captured the essence of rural life, local traditions, and the distinctive lifestyle of Patalkot in areas such as Sawarwani, Dhoosawani, Chimtipur, and Tamia. Notably, the traditional rituals of tribal weddings and the area’s natural beauty were filmed in Patalkot. Spanish director Juan Frutos praised the warm hospitality at Dhoosawani Homestay, stating that anyone wanting to understand the roots of real India should experience these villages in Madhya Pradesh.

This significant achievement is a positive outcome of strategic agreements and MOUs signed during the International Tourism Fair ‘Fitur Madrid 2026’ held in Spain in January 2026. Under the guidance of Tourism Board Managing Director Dr. Ilaiya Raja T. and Additional Managing Director Abhay Arvind Bedekar, the state has been effectively presented as a ‘Film-Friendly Destination’ on the global platform. The series not only highlights rural culture but also features historical and spiritual heritage sites like the Sanchi Stupa, Bhimbetka Caves, Satpura National Park, and the Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga in Ujjain, showcasing the multifaceted tourism richness of the state.

This global initiative will not only strengthen Madhya Pradesh’s international branding but also significantly boost local employment, homestays, and handicraft activities. The shooting, coordinated with Collector Chhindwara Harendra Narayan and the district administration, marks a milestone in establishing the state as a vibrant cultural canvas on the world cinema map. Future international projects are expected to elevate Madhya Pradesh’s tourism sector and provide a new impetus to the local economy.

The Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board is facilitating necessary permits, logistical support, security arrangements, and on-ground coordination for the shooting. This initiative is considered a crucial step towards establishing the state as a ‘Film-Friendly Destination.’ In recent years, Madhya Pradesh has made remarkable progress in film tourism, becoming a preferred location for Bollywood films, web series, and international documentary projects. This not only enhances the state’s global branding but also promotes local employment, rural tourism, and the cultural economy.

Today, Madhya Pradesh is not just known as the ‘Tiger State’ but has transformed into a vibrant canvas filled with nature, culture, spirituality, and experiences for global cinema.
