Madhya Pradesh Celebrates Womens Empowerment with Nari Shakti Vandan Fortnight

Bhopal, April 10: The Madhya Pradesh government, led by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, is launching the ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Fortnight’ from April 10 to April 25 to raise awareness about the ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Act,’ also known as the Women’s Reservation Act.

This initiative will honor women’s leadership and contributions across various sectors. The state government has instructed that the event be celebrated as a grand public festival.

The campaign will kick off with conferences at all divisional headquarters. These events will recognize female representatives and successful women entrepreneurs, who will share their experiences.

The Department of Women and Child Development will organize ‘Nari Shakti Padayatras’ (Women Empowerment Marches) in each Lok Sabha and Assembly constituency, inviting women from diverse backgrounds to participate.

To engage the youth, a ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Wall’ will be created, allowing young people to express their thoughts through paintings and messages.

On April 14, in honor of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s birth anniversary, special village meetings will be held in all gram panchayats. Discussions on the Women’s Reservation Act will take place, paying tribute to Babasaheb Ambedkar.

Seminars and workshops will also be organized in panchayats, urban local bodies, and educational institutions.

Women from self-help groups, as well as beneficiaries of schemes like ‘Lakshmi Didi’ and ‘Laadli Behna,’ will play an active role in these activities.

To educate the younger generation about the importance of women’s empowerment, lectures and competitions will be held in schools, colleges, and universities.

A government official stated that representatives have been encouraged to actively participate in all programs.

Madhya Pradesh has made significant strides in women’s economic participation. Recent data shows that approximately 411,000 of the state’s 2.434 million micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) are operated by women, accounting for 17 percent.

Subsidies for women from Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes can reach up to 50 percent, while those from the general category can receive up to 40 percent.

The Startup Policy and Implementation Plan 2025 provides 18 percent financial assistance for women-led startups, with support of up to 1.8 million rupees per installment and a total cap of 7.2 million rupees.

These initiatives reflect the Madhya Pradesh government’s focused efforts toward women’s empowerment and its contribution to the vision of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ (Self-Reliant India).

The ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Fortnight’ is expected to strengthen public awareness and further promote women’s participation in leadership roles across the state.
