Madhya Pradesh Cabinet Approves ₹1,547 Crore for Dairy Sector and Infrastructure Development

Bhopal, September 1: The Madhya Pradesh Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, approved a comprehensive package of approximately ₹41,000 crore aimed at the overall development and strengthening of the state’s infrastructure.

Following the meeting, Public Works Department Minister Rakesh Singh informed the media that the approval includes ₹29,619 crore for the implementation of the Developed Bharat-Gi Ram Ji scheme. He also mentioned that around ₹2,973 crore has been allocated for dairy producers, with ₹1,547 crore specifically earmarked to enhance the processing capacity of various dairy products. This marks a significant step in increasing the production of diverse dairy items.

Further elaborating on the livestock and dairy sector, the minister stated that a total of ₹2,973 crore has been approved. Under the Dairy Development Scheme, the government plans to expand the network of cooperative dairy societies from the current 7,331 villages to 26,000 villages over the next five years.

Singh noted that daily milk collection will rise from the current 1.2 million kilograms to 5.2 million kilograms. The existing processing capacity of 1.78 million liters will be increased to 6.33 million liters per day. Additionally, the sale of milk packets is set to increase from 700,000 liters to 3.5 million liters daily.

Previously, Union Cooperation and Home Minister Amit Shah advised the Madhya Pradesh government to boost milk production by increasing the number of dairy cooperatives in mission mode.

Minister Singh emphasized that these measures are expected to significantly strengthen the dairy sector, benefit milk producers across the state, and create new opportunities in rural areas. He stated that these decisions reflect the government’s focus on large-scale infrastructure development and the growth of the agricultural and dairy economy.

He added that the Cabinet’s decisions are part of a major effort to ensure balanced development and better livelihood opportunities for farmers and dairy producers in Madhya Pradesh.
