Bengaluru, September 1: Former Karnataka minister and BJP leader B.C. Patil raised concerns on Tuesday regarding the zero traffic arrangement made for Home Minister Priyank Kharge’s visit to Bengaluru Airport. He stated that these restrictions caused significant inconvenience for travelers heading to the airport.
On Facebook, Patil questioned whether Kharge was receiving special treatment due to being the son of AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge. He urged the Home Minister to adhere to the law and ensure that VIP movements do not disrupt the public.
Before entering politics, B.C. Patil served as a police officer and is also a film actor. He recounted that while traveling to the airport around 5:30 AM, traffic police halted vehicle movement. When he inquired about the zero traffic arrangement, he was informed that the Karnataka Home Minister was en route to the airport.
Patil expressed that he was unaware of any protocol granting the Home Minister a zero traffic privilege. He questioned, “According to my knowledge and opinion, there is no such arrangement for the Home Minister. When did this system begin?”
He alleged that the traffic restrictions led to severe congestion, making it difficult for many travelers to reach their flights on time. Numerous passengers were anxious about missing their flights due to the traffic jam.
Patil asked, “Is Kharge receiving special privileges because of his family background?” He called on Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar to address this incident and advise the Home Minister appropriately.
He urged Priyank Kharge to operate within the law and ensure that the arrangements for ministers do not unnecessarily inconvenience ordinary citizens. Patil emphasized that VIP movement should be managed in a way that does not disrupt the public, especially for travelers heading to Bengaluru Airport, as missing a scheduled flight could lead to serious consequences.
