New Delhi, April 3: Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla participated in the self-enumeration process for the 2027 Census at his residence in Delhi on Friday. He urged citizens to submit their household details online and contribute to building a strong and prosperous India.
In a post on the social media platform X, Birla stated, “The first phase of India’s Census-2027 has begun. Today, I completed my self-enumeration registration at my residence in Delhi.”
He emphasized that this national census marks the beginning of a new era. For the first time, the entire process will be conducted digitally, allowing every citizen to record their household details themselves. This method is extremely secure, accurate, and convenient.
Birla noted, “The self-enumeration period varies across different states and union territories. You can self-enumerate by visiting the official portal according to your region.”
He further encouraged citizens to actively participate in this important national process, register their information, inspire their acquaintances, and contribute to the goal of ‘Census for Public Welfare’ to help build a strong and prosperous India.
Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah completed their self-enumeration on Wednesday.
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh also took part in the self-enumeration process for the 2027 Census in Delhi. In a post on X, he wrote, “As part of Census 2027, I participated in the self-enumeration process. The first phase of Census 2027, which includes housing listing and related work, has already begun. For the first time, there is an emphasis on digital data collection, allowing people to self-enumerate information related to their households. I urge everyone to actively participate in this process and complete their self-enumeration to help lay a strong foundation for a ‘Developed India.’”
The 2027 Census will be India’s first fully digital census, moving away from the traditional paper-based system that has been in place for over 150 years.
This process is being conducted in two phases under the Census Act of 1948. The first phase, known as ‘House Listing and Housing Census’ (HLHC), focuses on collecting information about the status of homes, household amenities, and property. Citizens will need to answer 33 predetermined questions during this phase.
