Kolkata, June 13: Baidyanath Ghosh Dastidar, son of rebel Trinamool Congress MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, has issued a legal notice to former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Trinamool MPs Sougata Roy, Kalyan Banerjee, Mahua Moitra, and former Trinamool leader Sonali Guha. This action comes in response to what he describes as false, defamatory, and baseless allegations made against them.
In a statement, Baidyanath clarified that he never sought a ticket to contest from the Barasat Assembly constituency. He labeled the claims made to the contrary as false and damaging to his reputation.
He also vehemently denied accusations from Sonali Guha, which alleged that he, his brother, and their mother, Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, regularly consume alcohol. He asserted that these allegations are entirely untrue.
The statement further revealed that his lawyer, Pooja Shukla, has prepared a legal notice addressed to Mamata Banerjee, Sougata Roy, Kalyan Banerjee, Mahua Moitra, and Sonali Guha, which he has signed. This notice is expected to be served on Monday.
It is noteworthy that Sonali Guha and other Trinamool leaders recently commented that Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar has become a rebel MP because the party did not grant her son a ticket to contest in the recent Assembly elections from Barasat.
Baidyanath has requested a public apology and the retraction of these statements. If he does not receive an adequate response, he plans to pursue legal remedies available under the law, including defamation actions.
