Udit Raj Warns Against Election Commissions Actions, Calls for Opposition Mobilization

New Delhi, October 9 (Daily Kiran) : Political tensions are rising in New Delhi following a letter from 42 former judges warning against attempts to undermine the Election Commission. Congress leader Udit Raj has responded with serious allegations against the central government and the Commission.

In an interview, Udit Raj stated that if the Election Commission makes erroneous decisions, removes millions from the voter list, and arbitrarily alters Form-6, the opposition will certainly raise its voice. He emphasized that this is not just the responsibility of the opposition; every citizen, whether from civil society, NGOs, students, youth, or journalists, should speak out as this is a matter of democratic integrity.

Raj highlighted that under Rahul Gandhi‘s leadership, the opposition is fighting to preserve democracy. He noted that ongoing protests are critical to safeguarding democracy, the Constitution, and voting rights. He praised Gandhi’s efforts, asserting that no one is working as hard as he is to defend social justice and the electoral process. He called on everyone involved in the fight, including leaders like Akhilesh Yadav, to stand against the betrayal of the nation.

He alleged that in states where elections were held, millions of votes were cut. However, as protests intensified, the Election Commission agreed to allow voters to reapply to restore their names. This suggests that pressure from movements is effectively defending democracy.

In response to BJP spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari’s accusations that Rahul Gandhi is undermining democracy, Udit Raj sharply countered. He questioned why senior BJP leaders previously opposed electronic voting machines (EVMs) if they are entirely reliable. He noted that prominent figures like L.K. Advani and Subramanian Swamy had raised concerns about EVMs, even taking their issues to the Supreme Court.

Raj pointed out that many countries that once used EVMs have since abandoned them. He quoted Elon Musk, stating that fair elections cannot be conducted using EVMs. He mentioned that countries like Germany have moved away from EVMs due to advancements in technology that make hacking easier.

When asked about the possibility of Mamata Banerjee participating in a protest by the Citizens for Justice and Peace (CJP) on October 10 at Jantar Mantar, Udit Raj expressed that CJP should support the India alliance. He reiterated that this is not merely a political battle but a fight to protect the vote.
