New Delhi, September 11 (Daily Kiran) : On September 11, leaders across India commemorated the 133rd anniversary of Swami Vivekananda’s historic Chicago address, celebrated annually as ‘Vijay Divas.’ Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, paid homage to the influential figure.
In a post on X, Prime Minister Modi remarked, “On September 11, 1893, in Chicago, Swami Vivekananda’s captivating speech showcased India’s civilizational culture. His inspiring words continue to resonate across the globe.”
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari also took to X, stating, “Swami Vivekananda’s historic speech in Chicago introduced the world to India’s culture. It serves as a source of inspiration for every Indian. On this Vijay Divas, I pay my respects to Swami Vivekananda.”
Yogi Adityanath highlighted the significance of Vivekananda’s address, describing it as a magnificent expression of India’s ancient knowledge tradition, spiritual vision, and human values. He noted that Vivekananda expanded the idea of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ (the world is one family), guiding the world toward peace, harmony, and human unity. He extended heartfelt greetings on this historic occasion.
Rajasthan’s Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma echoed similar sentiments, stating, “On this 133rd anniversary of Swami Vivekananda’s Chicago address, I offer my profound respects. His words, ‘My American brothers and sisters,’ not only established India’s message of universal tolerance but also illuminated a new path of unity for all humanity. Let us embrace his powerful thoughts to build a strong, self-reliant, and prosperous nation.”
Bihar’s Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary reflected on the day, asserting that Vivekananda’s eloquent thoughts at the 1893 Chicago Parliament of Religions showcased the glory of Indian culture and spiritual heritage to the world.
Uttarakhand’s Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami celebrated the day by honoring Vivekananda as a beacon of spiritual consciousness. He noted that Vivekananda’s powerful address at the Chicago conference introduced the world to India’s rich tradition of generosity, tolerance, and human welfare. His ideas continue to inspire every Indian, especially the youth, to pursue selfless service and human welfare.
Haryana’s Chief Minister Naib Saini remarked on the profound impact of Vivekananda’s speech, which highlighted India’s spiritual heritage and the essence of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam.’ He emphasized that Vivekananda’s immortal message continues to awaken our consciousness and encourages us to serve the nation.
Gujarat’s Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi also conveyed his wishes on this auspicious occasion, marking the day as one that celebrates the global recognition of Sanatan Dharma and culture.
