New Delhi, August 2: Today marks the birth anniversary of the great freedom fighter Pingali Venkayya, who designed the Indian national flag. Born on August 2, 1876, in Machilipatnam, Andhra Pradesh, Venkayya is remembered and honored by several leaders, including Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
In a post on the social media platform X, Chief Minister Adityanath expressed, “On the birth anniversary of the great freedom fighter Pingali Venkayya, who gave form to the pride of India, our tricolor, I pay my humble tribute. Your vision and dedication to the nation will continue to inspire the spirit of ‘One India, Great India’ in every Indian heart.”
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta also took to X to pay her respects, stating, “On the birth anniversary of the great freedom fighter and designer of the tricolor, Pingali Venkayya, I bow in reverence. His unique creation has united India’s diversity into a national sentiment. Today, the tricolor stands as a living symbol of the resolve, values, and dedication of 1.4 billion citizens.”
Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar remembered Venkayya on X, writing, “We remember the patriot and scholar Pingali Venkayya on his birth anniversary. As a renowned freedom fighter, he made significant contributions to the development of our national flag and dedicated his life to the service of the nation. May his legacy inspire us to serve our country with the same spirit of patriotism and selfless dedication.”
Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya also shared his tribute on X, stating, “On the birth anniversary of the great freedom fighter and designer of the national flag, Pingali Venkayya, I bow in respect!
