Tehran, August 2: Iran’s Foreign Minister, Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, has issued a stern warning to the United States against any significant military actions. According to the semi-official Mehr News Agency, Araghchi emphasized that those responsible would face serious repercussions.
In separate phone conversations with Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir, Turkey’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, and Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, Araghchi shared his views on recent developments in the region.
As reported by the Xinhua News Agency, Araghchi assured Munir and Fidan that Iran is fully prepared to defend its national sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national security, promising a strong response to any attacks.
During his discussion with the Saudi counterpart, Araghchi warned that any hostile actions by the US or Israel, along with regional cooperation in such actions, would elicit a firm response from Iran’s military.
On Saturday, Iran’s Foreign Ministry accused the US of violating a peace agreement made in June. The US has reportedly conducted continuous attacks on Iranian sites, disrupted Iranian ports and commercial shipping, and increased economic pressure.
In a statement, the ministry vowed to continue opposing the US’s unlawful attacks and to robustly defend the dignity and freedom of the nation. Recently, both countries had paused their attacks, but hostilities resumed shortly after.
Before the ceasefire, the US had launched several strikes on Iranian sites, claiming these were retaliatory actions against Iranian attacks on vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, aimed at diminishing Iran’s capability to threaten commercial shipping.
Previously, Araghchi had warned the UK against any military cooperation with the US in attacking Iran. In a statement on Saturday, the Iranian Foreign Ministry noted that Araghchi had a phone conversation with British Foreign Minister Ed Miliband, stressing that any collaboration with aggressors, including under existing defense agreements, would not be tolerated.
