Noida, June 19: Lawyers and deed writers in Gautam Buddh Nagar have launched an indefinite protest against the Uttar Pradesh government’s newly implemented e-registration system. This demonstration has severely disrupted registry operations at major sub-registrar offices in the district.
According to reports, both the sub-registrar office in Sector 33, Noida, and the one in Gamma-2, Greater Noida, have come to a standstill due to the protest. The demonstrators argue that the e-registration system will not only impact their livelihoods but also pose various technical and legal challenges for the general public.
The protesting lawyers have stated that they will continue their movement until the government either withdraws the decision or makes necessary amendments. As a result of the protest, property registration work at both offices has nearly halted, causing significant inconvenience for the public. Reports indicate that over 300 registrations are currently pending due to the ongoing demonstrations.
Many individuals arrived at the offices to register their documents but were forced to turn back due to the disruption. This situation is also affecting government revenue, as income from registration and stamp duties is being impacted.
It is noteworthy that the Uttar Pradesh government recently introduced the e-registration system. Under this new framework, individuals will not be required to visit sub-registrar offices to register property, as many processes can now be completed digitally, promising savings in time and resources.
However, the implementation of this new system in Gautam Buddh Nagar is facing challenges before it can be fully operational, primarily due to the protests from lawyers and deed writers.
