Law Student Arrested for Inciting Labor Violence in Noida

Noida, June 2: In a significant development regarding the labor violence that erupted in various industrial areas of Noida on April 13, police have arrested Yogesh Meena, a law student from a prominent university. Authorities allege that Meena played a crucial role in orchestrating the events. Originally from Jaipur, Rajasthan, he is reportedly linked to the Revolutionary Workers Party of India (RWPI).

Police officials assert that the labor violence was not an isolated incident but rather a result of a well-planned conspiracy. During the investigation, several digital and technical pieces of evidence were uncovered, leading to Meena’s arrest. The police claim that the accused attempted to incite anger and confusion among workers through social media platforms and various WhatsApp groups.

The investigation revealed that Meena spread misleading information in multiple WhatsApp groups during and after the violence, alleging that a driver of a Noida police officer was in contact with the workers and inciting them. According to police, this claim was entirely false and part of the conspiracy.

Previously, the police had arrested an individual named Anil, who was allegedly identified as the driver of the police officer. However, after questioning and examining digital evidence, the police clarified that Anil had no connection to any police officer and was not a driver. Nonetheless, it was discovered that there had been continuous communication between Anil and Yogesh Meena, including conversations on the day of the violence.

Authorities noted that the misinformation spread on social media significantly affected a large number of workers, leading to violent incidents across several industrial sectors. Rioters vandalized various factories, offices, and industrial units, with reports of arson in multiple locations. According to police investigations, hundreds of companies were impacted, resulting in damages amounting to millions of rupees.

Currently, police are conducting an in-depth investigation to determine who else may be involved in this alleged conspiracy. Officials have stated that strict legal action will be taken against anyone found inciting violence or spreading rumors.
