Karnataka Government Launches Emergency Centers Amid Middle East Airspace Closure

Bengaluru, March 2: The Karnataka government has initiated emergency centers for its citizens following the closure of airspace by several Middle Eastern countries. This closure has left many travelers stranded.

Karnataka’s Revenue Minister, Krishna Byre Gowda, announced in a press release that multiple countries have issued Notices to Airmen, causing disruptions in international flights.

According to the latest advisory from the Ministry of Civil Aviation, airspace over Iran, Israel, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Oman, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar will remain closed until March 2.

As a result of this travel disruption, numerous passengers are stuck in the UAE and Dubai.

Under the direction of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Minister Krishna Byre Gowda, the State Emergency Operations Center and all district emergency operations centers have been fully activated. They are working around the clock to monitor the situation and provide necessary assistance.

Officials reported that these centers are regularly disseminating information from the Ministry of External Affairs and Indian embassies and consulates in affected countries. Officials at Karnataka Bhavan in New Delhi have also been mobilized.

Helpdesk numbers and advisories issued by embassies are being displayed at all district emergency centers, with social media also being utilized for communication.

Additionally, the State Emergency Operations Center and officials at Karnataka Bhavan in New Delhi are coordinating with the Ministry of External Affairs’ Rapid Response Cell. Requests for assistance received at state and district emergency centers are being forwarded for further action.

The state government has urged Karnataka residents in the affected Middle Eastern countries to strictly follow guidelines issued by local authorities and to contact the Indian embassy or consulate through helpline numbers.

Minister Krishna Byre Gowda stated that he and the Chief Minister are continuously monitoring the situation, and necessary updates will be provided as conditions evolve.
