Bengaluru, February 13: Karnataka’s Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar addressed ongoing leadership disputes, stating that he thrives on hope. He remarked, “The results of everyone’s hard work will surely be seen. Where there is effort, there is reward. Where there is devotion, there is God.”
Shivakumar made these comments while responding to reporters at the Indian Institute of Science and later in Tiptur. When asked if his recent trip to Delhi boosted his confidence, he reiterated his earlier statements.
The party high command has summoned him and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for discussions on power-sharing on February 17. In response to this report, Shivakumar said, “I am not aware of this. Time will provide the answers.”
When questioned about Home Minister G. Parameshwara’s intention to seek clarification from the high command regarding power-sharing, Shivakumar expressed, “I wish him well.”
Regarding reports of legislators allegedly going on foreign tours, Shivakumar stated, “I have not requested any report on this matter. I have not tried to gather information.”
When asked if the high command could intervene to stop foreign study tours, he replied, “I have not discussed this with the high command. Those going on foreign tours have not spoken to me.”
Emphasizing his commitment to party discipline, Shivakumar stated, “I will abide by whatever the party decides. I will not interfere in other matters. If legislators raise issues, the leaders of the high command and the chief minister will address them. It is my duty to remain a disciplined soldier of the party and government.”
In response to questions about the government’s completion of 1,000 days and an event in Haveri, Shivakumar mentioned, “We organized the land guarantee scheme program yesterday in Haveri.”
Regarding his visit to Rishi Ajayya’s monastery, he shared, “This is Ajayya’s annual fair. I visit every year, and I will go this year as well. This evening, we have organized dinner for the conference guests and arranged for them to visit the Vidhana Soudha.”
Shivakumar also mentioned that he met with World Bank officials earlier in the day. He toured villages and inspected the water supply system. He praised the safety measures at the KRS Dam and stated that if Karnataka proposes projects for water supply, stormwater drainage, and others, they are ready to assist. He instructed officials to prepare proposals accordingly.
