Bangalore, March 23: B.Y. Vijayendra, the state president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and an MLA, expressed confidence on Monday that his party will secure victories in the upcoming by-elections for the Davanagere South and Bagalkot seats. He stated, “No one can stop the lotus from blooming.”
Vijayendra alleged that the Chief Minister and several cabinet ministers may camp in Bagalkot. He also claimed that in Davanagere South, ministers might resort to using money to influence voters, which could be brought in “not in suitcases, but in bags.”
He criticized the Karnataka government, labeling it as corrupt, anti-people, anti-poor, anti-farmer, anti-Dalit, and anti-youth. According to him, the public is discontent with the current administration.
Despite being the ruling party, Vijayendra asserted that Congress will not be able to prevent the BJP’s victory in these two seats, no matter how much “drama” they create. He expressed confidence that the BJP candidate, Veeranna Charantimath, will win in Bagalkot, and the party will achieve a historic victory in Davanagere South as well.
However, he warned party workers against complacency and urged them to remain vigilant until the last moment of voting. Vijayendra instructed party members to ensure that voters make it to the polling stations. He is confident that these efforts will lead to decisive wins for BJP candidates.
Reflecting on his journey, he mentioned that before leaving Bengaluru, he offered special prayers and sought blessings from his father, former Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa. He noted that Yediyurappa has never shied away from challenges in his political career and that his guidance continues to inspire him.
Vijayendra acknowledged the internal differences within the party but assured that the leadership will resolve these issues. He emphasized that all leaders will work together to ensure the BJP’s victory.
Once again, he claimed that the BJP will win both by-elections and reiterated, “No one can stop the lotus from blooming.” He also accused Congress of attempting to create disturbances during previous by-elections in Sira and KR Pet. He urged party workers to remain alert until the voting concludes.
