Lucknow, May 8: Kapil Dev Agarwal, a minister in the Uttar Pradesh government, has sharply reacted to the dissolution of the West Bengal Assembly and the rapidly changing political landscape there. He criticized Akhilesh Yadav’s meeting with Mamata Banerjee, stating that Yadav is attempting to convey that “Didi, you are great; you have not lost the elections.” Agarwal accused this gesture of mocking democracy and disrespecting the public mandate.
Agarwal emphasized that the political climate in West Bengal has drastically changed, noting that Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to arrive in Kolkata on Friday. A meeting of the BJP legislative party will take place, moving forward with the process of forming a new government.
He asserted that the opposition must understand that accepting the people’s decision is the essence of democracy. He recalled that when Mamata Banerjee first came to power, constitutional processes were followed, and thus the current mandate should also be respected, with the opposition fulfilling its role.
Agarwal stated that a new government will be formed in West Bengal, a leader of the legislative party will be chosen, and the state will receive strong leadership. He also referenced the murder of BJP’s newly elected MLA Suvendu Adhikari’s aide, promising strict action against the criminals involved.
Additionally, Agarwal targeted AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi, accusing him of inciting society and misleading the Muslim community. He remarked that “Vande Mataram” is not just a hymn to a goddess but a tribute to Mother India.
He highlighted that many Muslim poets and freedom fighters have honored “Vande Mataram.” Mentioning names like Abdul Hamid, Afshan Gurlakhan, and Ras Khan, he stated that Mother India belongs to all of us and this land gives us life.
Regarding law and order in Uttar Pradesh, Agarwal praised Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s leadership for controlling crime. He noted that there has been a crackdown on crimes against women, and today, the UP model is being discussed across the country.
