K. Kavitha Launches New Party Telangana Rashtra Sena

Hyderabad, April 25: Former BRS MP and MLC K. Kavitha inaugurated her new party, Telangana Rashtra Sena (TRS), on Saturday morning. This initiative follows in the footsteps of her father, K. Chandrashekar Rao, who originally founded the TRS before it was renamed to BRS. Kavitha is the daughter of the former Chief Minister of Telangana and the leader of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS).

Seven months ago, Kavitha left the BRS due to differences with her brother, T. Harish Rao, who is often viewed as KCR’s political successor.

On Saturday, Kavitha began her day with a prayer at her residence in Hyderabad. She then visited the Telangana Martyrs Memorial to pay homage to the fallen heroes. The event took place at a conference center in Munirabad, located about 50 kilometers from Hyderabad, where traditional Telangana folk music was played, and dancers performed to lively tunes.

A video was showcased during the event, featuring Kavitha actively participating in the Telangana movement and confidently engaging with her party workers. The gathering included members from various communities, such as Scheduled Tribes (ST), Lambada, and Muslim women. Kavitha aims to carve out a space for female leaders in a predominantly male political landscape.

In a press conference held in March, Kavitha stated that her party would focus on universal upliftment and welfare, with inclusive development and self-reliance as its core principles. She emphasized the need for a new political platform to address the unfulfilled aspirations of the people of Telangana, more than a decade after the state was formed.

Kavitha remarked, “Even after 12 years, we have not achieved ‘water, wealth, and employment,’ which were the foundations of the Telangana movement. The state governments have failed to meet the expectations of farmers, youth, entrepreneurs, and marginalized communities. Our goal is to bring governance closer to the people and address grassroots issues. Our party will prioritize local concerns that are often overlooked in broader political debates.”
