Ranchi, June 2: The Chief Electoral Officer of Jharkhand, K. Ravi Kumar, has instructed officials to complete the mapping of voters under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls by June 15. He emphasized that voters successfully mapped from the previous revision will not need to submit additional documents during the SIR process.
During an online review meeting with district electoral officers and officials from all districts, he stated that names of voters who are not mapped will not be removed from the draft electoral list. However, these voters must present the required documents after receiving a notice from the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO). The final electoral list will be published on October 7, 2026, after the claims and objections process is completed.
The Chief Electoral Officer stressed the importance of ensuring the quality of the mapping process. Any incorrect mapping will be marked as ‘anomaly cases,’ which will be addressed by the ERO. These voters will also need to go through the SIR process like un-mapped voters.
He instructed officials to establish personal contact with un-mapped voters and identify those missing from the list, as well as those who are deceased, transferred, duplicates, or non-citizens.
K. Ravi Kumar stated that the main objective of the SIR is to ensure that no eligible Indian citizen is left out of the electoral rolls, while also preventing non-Indian citizens from participating in the process. He provided detailed information on the SIR process, mapping, and required documents during the review meeting and assessed the current progress.
The Chief Electoral Officer noted that the enumeration form will include the name and mobile number of the relevant Booth Level Officer (BLO), and no changes should be made to the BLO after June 15. He communicated directly with BLOs who had low mapping rates to understand the reasons for slow progress and directed officials to take necessary steps for their capacity enhancement.
The meeting included the Additional Chief Electoral Officer Subodh Kumar, Training Nodal Officer Dev Das Dutta, Deputy Electoral Officer Dheeraj Kumar Thakur, Assistant Electoral Officer Sunil Kumar, and all district electoral officers and deputy electoral officers participating online.
