Paris, July 28: A shocking stabbing incident has occurred in the French capital, Paris, leaving three individuals injured. Authorities have arrested a suspect in connection with the attack, and the victims are currently receiving treatment in a hospital.
The attack took place on Monday around 11:30 AM local time in northwestern Paris. A man armed with two kitchen knives launched an assault on passersby. According to reports from French media, the victims were hospitalized, with two of them in serious condition.
An off-duty police officer apprehended the suspect at the scene. France’s Interior Minister Laurent Nunez informed the media that the suspect only revealed his identity and was making vague statements.
Nunez urged caution regarding the motives behind this violent act. Reports indicate that France’s National Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor’s Office (PNAT) is closely monitoring the situation.
Several videos of the incident have circulated on social media. In one clip, the suspect is seen making religious statements while being restrained.
The video captures the suspect on the ground, stating, “It is Allah who commanded me.”
This incident occurred just a day after another attack linked to Islamic extremism in Germany, which resulted in one woman’s death and injuries to 29 others.
On Saturday evening, a van drove into a crowd near Berlin’s Tiergarten Park. The driver then attacked pedestrians with what is believed to be a machete, leading to one fatality and numerous injuries. This took place close to the site of the city’s Christopher Street Day Pride Parade.
Local police reported that the suspect in Berlin was shot by officers on Sunday evening. The suspect was spotted in the Spandau district around 6:00 PM. Initial investigations revealed that the suspect charged at police officers with a knife, prompting them to open fire.
Earlier on Sunday, Germany’s Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt suggested that the incident could be an Islamist terrorist attack.
