Rudraprayag, July 28: The weather department has issued an orange alert for Rudraprayag district in Uttarakhand, where heavy rainfall persisted overnight. However, the rain has subsided this morning. The weather remains stable at Kedarnath Temple, where pilgrims are visiting to pay their respects to Baba Kedarnath.
Pilgrims at Kedarnath Temple are engaged in worship and rituals. Despite the temporary lull, the weather department has warned of heavy rainfall throughout the day. In response, local authorities are on high alert. The administration has urged residents and travelers to exercise caution and adhere to the advisory issued by the authorities.
As a precautionary measure, all schools and Anganwadi centers in Dehradun for grades 1 to 12 have been declared closed for Tuesday. District Magistrate Dr. Ashish Chauhan stated that the ongoing rainfall and updates from the Director of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) indicate the possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall, lightning, and severe weather conditions in the next 24 hours, prompting the orange alert.
The order highlights that heavy rainfall could lead to unforeseen incidents. In light of the potential disaster, all educational institutions and Anganwadi centers in the district will remain closed for one day.
Recently, IMD meteorologist C.S. Tomar mentioned that the monsoon is expected to remain active for the next 4-5 days. A depression over the North Bay of Bengal has intensified into a deep depression, increasing the likelihood of rainfall activities in Uttarakhand. Light rain is anticipated across most areas of Uttarakhand in the coming days.
