Jharkhand Government Cancels JSSC-CGL Exam, Over 2000 Jobs at Stake

Ranchi, August 17: The Jharkhand government’s decision to cancel the JSSC-CGL exam has sparked outrage among candidates who were selected for various positions through this examination. Upon learning of the cancellation, a large group of successful candidates gathered outside the Project Bhawan, the state secretariat, on Monday to protest against the government’s decision.

More than 2,000 candidates were appointed to various government positions through the JSSC-CGL exam. After completing the hiring process, these candidates have been working in different departments for nearly a year. The announcement of the exam’s cancellation has now raised questions about the future of these appointments.

Protesters outside Project Bhawan chanted slogans against the government and expressed their concerns about their future. They argued that they had followed the prescribed process by taking the exam, receiving appointment letters after the results were declared, and had already begun their duties. Therefore, the complete cancellation of the exam jeopardizes their employment and future prospects.

The candidates demanded that the government reconsider its decision and find an alternative solution that takes their situation into account. They stated that if any irregularities occurred during the exam, those responsible should face consequences, but the candidates who successfully secured jobs through the selection process should not bear the brunt of the fallout. The government’s decision to cancel the JSSC-CGL exam was based on facts that emerged during an investigation.

Chief Minister Hemant Soren mentioned that several significant facts came to light during the SIT and CID investigations. He also announced a comprehensive inquiry into the JPSC and JSSC recruitment exams conducted from 2014 to the present. Following the government’s decision, two contrasting narratives have emerged regarding the same exam.

While the protesting students at Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium view this as a significant victory, the candidates appointed through the exam are opposing the government’s decision concerning their jobs and futures. The government now faces the challenge of addressing the demands of the protesting students while also resolving the concerns raised about the future of the candidates appointed through the JSSC-CGL exam.
