Rajasthan Government Takes Action Against Expired Food Items at Private Hotel

Jaipur, August 17: The Rajasthan Food Safety Department is actively conducting inspections and taking action across the state under its “Pure Food – War on Adulteration” campaign.

Under the guidance of Food Safety and Drug Control Commissioner T. Shubhangala, and with oversight from Additional Commissioner Bhagwat Singh and Joint Commissioner Vijay Prakash Sharma, a central team of food safety officials based in Jaipur inspected a private hotel in the Bani Park area on Thursday.

During the inspection, the team collected samples of paneer and bati in accordance with the Food Safety and Standards Act. These samples will be sent to a food laboratory for testing, and further action will be taken based on the laboratory reports.

The team also discovered expired food items at the hotel, including six packets of bread, two one-kilogram jars of peanut butter, and six cans of sweet corn. All expired items were destroyed on-site.

Additionally, the inspection revealed that the hotel’s Chinese food menu lacked necessary warnings regarding the use of monosodium glutamate (MSG). The Food Safety Department will issue a separate corrective notice to the hotel management regarding other deficiencies found during the inspection.

The Food Safety Department reiterated its commitment to ensuring the quality and safety of food items in the state. Inspections, sample collection, and actions against violators will continue regularly under the “Pure Food – War on Adulteration” campaign.
