NSUI Protests Over Allegations of Irregularities in UGC-NET Exam

New Delhi, August 17: The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) staged a protest outside the National Testing Agency (NTA) office in New Delhi on Monday, raising concerns over alleged irregularities in the UGC-NET examination process. The protest saw a significant turnout of students and activists, including NSUI National President Vinod Jakhar.

Jakhar questioned the examination procedures, highlighting serious issues related to subjects such as Sociology, English, and Commerce. He claimed that the Commerce question paper contained irregularities, with some questions being repeated from the 2024 exam papers.

He noted that NEET students had previously protested over similar examination issues, and now NET candidates are also voicing their concerns regarding the NTA. Jakhar accused the authorities of jeopardizing students’ futures.

He stated that Rahul Gandhi has been consistently advocating for students’ rights, but the government remains unwilling to discuss these issues in Parliament. Young people across the country are raising their voices against the examination system. “We will continue our fight to ensure justice for students and hold the NTA accountable,” Jakhar asserted.

A female protester emphasized the importance of continuing the fight for students’ rights. “We are aware of our rights and will not be intimidated. The power of women will not retreat, and we will raise our voices for a better future for the coming generations,” she said.

The NSUI also criticized the examination system under the BJP government, arguing that the alleged irregularities and subsequent cancellations of exams disproportionately affect students. “Why should students bear the brunt of the BJP government’s failed examination system? The UGC-NET exam was conducted, only to be canceled two months later. This is a gross injustice to students’ years of hard work, time, and future,” they stated.

The NSUI has vowed to continue its struggle until the NTA is banned.
