JDU Worker Protests Outside Chief Ministers Residence in Patna, Vows to Keep Nitish Kumar in Bihar

Patna, March 6: Nitish Kumar is making a return to national politics, but he may have to step down as Chief Minister of Bihar. This decision has left supporters of the ruling Janata Dal (United) (JDU) dissatisfied. One ardent supporter has begun a hunger strike outside the Chief Minister’s residence, urging Kumar to remain in his position.

In an interview with a news agency, JDU worker Amarendra Das Triloki expressed his dismay at the news of Kumar potentially moving to the center. “Hearing that Nitish Kumar might go to Delhi has saddened us. Before 2005, Bihar suffered from a lack of law and order and unrest. Since taking office in 2005, Nitish Kumar has worked on development across all sectors. Good governance has been established, and justice has been delivered to the people. There has been progress in education, health, employment, clean drinking water, and women’s empowerment.”

Triloki further stated, “Today, numerous schemes are running in Bihar, making the people here prosperous. The level of poverty in Bihar is not as severe as in other states. The state enjoys over 20 hours of electricity daily. Previously, households relied on lanterns and candles, but now these items are rarely found due to the consistent power supply.”

The JDU worker declared, “I will not let Nitish Kumar leave Bihar. We wish for him to adorn Bihar until the very end. We will make efforts to stop him from leaving. Just as CM Nitish says that all of Bihar is his family, we also say that Chief Minister Nitish is a member of our family.”

He appealed to CM Nitish Kumar, stating that the people of the state have given him a majority and placed him in power. Therefore, he should not go to Delhi but remain in Bihar.

Earlier, on Thursday, a large number of supporters gathered outside Kumar’s residence in Patna. They chanted slogans in support of his continued leadership in Bihar. Some workers appeared emotional during the protests. However, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar expressed gratitude to JDU workers and the people of Bihar, announcing his intention to contest the Rajya Sabha elections. He later filed his nomination in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
