Political Tensions Rise Over JPNIC Controversy as BJP Targets Akhilesh Yadav

Lucknow, August 30: The political atmosphere has intensified as Dinesh Sharma, a Rajya Sabha MP from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), launched a direct attack on Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav. Sharma responded to Yadav’s statements regarding the JPNIC controversy, the Ankit Balyan murder case, and the expressway developments. He also welcomed the strengthening of India-Uzbekistan relations following Prime Minister Modi‘s meeting in Tashkent.

Regarding the Ankit Balyan murder case, Sharma stated, “The incident involving Ankit Balyan is very unfortunate. The government and police are working swiftly to investigate the matter thoroughly, and the culprits will face severe punishment as soon as possible.”

In response to Rahul Gandhi‘s remarks, he said, “If accusations are made based on facts, they become a subject for investigation. However, when someone makes allegations merely to defend themselves, it is a different matter altogether. The Chief Minister has explained this entire situation in great detail.”

On the JPNIC controversy, Minister Om Prakash Rajbhar commented, “When Akhilesh Yadav was in power, the estimated cost of JPNIC was set at ₹200 crores, but the actual expenditure reached ₹865 crores, and the work is still incomplete. Later, when the government realized that JPNIC was not being utilized, it was handed over to the LDA.”

Minister Sanjay Nishad added, “The commission is a constitutional body in itself. If questions are raised about it, who can we trust? It is essential to protect, develop, and maintain it. The statements from the opposition are completely baseless.”

Minister Kapil Dev Agarwal remarked, “Akhilesh Yadav makes meaningless statements. The entire state knows which path he follows. He opposes every initiative of the government and is inciting caste-based animosity within society. Whether it is JPNIC or other issues, the future belongs to the BJP. The state is progressing rapidly.”

Minister Aseem Arun questioned Akhilesh Yadav’s criticism of the expressway, stating that Yadav often highlights the expressways built during his tenure, while the Yogi government has developed a vast expressway network.
