New Delhi, August 12: JD(U) MPs visited former Bihar Chief Minister and Rajya Sabha member Nitish Kumar at his residence in Delhi. The meeting focused on organizational matters.
After the meeting, JD(U) MP Dileshwar Kamat stated, “This was a formal meeting, and our national president and executive president were present. We discussed organizational issues with the MPs.”
Regarding the recent NCER report, Kamat remarked, “This report is incorrect. The implementation of the liquor ban in Bihar has established peace among the people.” The National Council of Applied Economic Research’s report claims that Bihar’s complete liquor ban, enforced since 2016, has failed to achieve its social objectives.
In Patna, Bihar government minister Ramkripal Yadav defended the liquor ban law. He stated, “When Nitish Kumar was Chief Minister, the liquor ban was implemented with support from all parties. This decision was made in response to public demand, especially from women. The government is also taking steps to curb substance abuse and is acting against mafia activities and law violators.”
Sources indicate that the meeting in Delhi was convened to strengthen the organization and discuss strategies for upcoming elections. The presence of the party’s national president and executive president underscores JD(U)’s focus on reinforcing its organizational structure.
Following the NCER report on the liquor ban, the opposition has consistently questioned the Bihar government. However, JD(U) leaders have dismissed the report, asserting that the liquor ban has brought peace and social stability to Bihar. The party maintains that the government will continue its actions against substance abuse and mafia operations.
