IVF Mix-Up Leaves Gurgaon Couple in Distress: A Heartbreaking Tale

New Delhi, June 15: A couple from Gurgaon has shared their harrowing experience following a mix-up during their IVF (in-vitro fertilization) treatment, which involved the alleged swapping of embryos. They revealed how the negligence of the clinic and doctors has plunged them and their entire family into despair and depression.

Rahul Rathore expressed his frustration, stating that they feel emotionally, physically, and mentally shattered due to the indifferent and insensitive attitude of the authorities and the medical board. He noted that the medical board could have investigated the matter and provided a resolution, but they chose to ignore it.

For the past three months, Rahul and his wife, Meenu Rathore, have been seeking information about their “real children” and demanding a thorough investigation into the mix-up.

Rahul shared, “Our elderly parents are in great distress. My father is so shocked that he has become completely silent, and my 80-year-old mother is mentally traumatized. My wife and other family members are struggling to cope with this shock.”

The couple has been in contact with relevant authorities and the police for three months, but their complaints have largely gone unnoticed. An FIR was only registered after a court order.

They expressed that they are emotionally and mentally broken, and without prompt justice, their lives will be ruined.

Their ordeal began last year when they visited a reputed IVF hospital for treatment. They followed the entire process, including semen collection, egg retrieval, and embryo development.

On May 14, 2025, embryos were implanted in the woman’s womb, and she gave birth to twin daughters in January this year. However, the real trouble began when they noticed significant differences in the children’s physical traits.

The couple conducted DNA profiling of the children, and the results reportedly did not match, proving that the twins were not their biological children. Rahul stated, “Both maternity and paternity tests came back negative. This has caused my wife’s memory to deteriorate.”

He added, “We still do not know at what stage the embryos were swapped.”

The couple is demanding an investigation into the case. They want a review of the embryos and lab records, as well as access to the CCTV footage from the IVF clinic.
