
Mahendragiri, September 10 (Daily Kiran) : The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) announced on September 10 that it has successfully completed a hot test of its CE20 cryogenic engine at an operational thrust of 220 kN. This significant achievement marks another step forward for the upcoming LVM3 mission.
The test took place at the ISRO Propulsion Complex (IPRC) in Mahendragiri, Tamil Nadu. The CE20 engine is designated for the C32 upper stage of the LVM3 mission, and the test demonstrated the enhanced thrust capability of the cryogenic engine. Its purpose was to verify performance ahead of the flight.
In a post on social media platform X, ISRO stated, “The Flight Acceptance Hot Test for the CE20 cryogenic engine, designed for the C32 upper stage of the upcoming LVM3 mission, was successfully conducted on September 9 at the ISRO Propulsion Complex in Mahendragiri.”
Additionally, the test successfully showcased the performance of the LOX Tank Pressurization Module (LTPM), which is designed for the C32 stage of the Gaganyaan mission.
This successful hot test comes at a crucial time as ISRO is developing and qualifying advanced propulsion and launch systems for India’s expanding space program. The LVM3 has become a key launch vehicle for the country’s heavy missions and is vital for India’s human spaceflight goals.
ISRO is working on a significant expansion of India’s space capabilities, focusing on next-generation launch systems, human spaceflight, lunar and planetary exploration, and the proposed Indian Space Station.
