Kuwait City, September 10 (Daily Kiran) : Kuwait has expressed strong objections to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s recent visit to Syria, labeling it an “illegal entry.” The Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry condemned the action, stating that it represents a serious violation of Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
In a statement released on the social media platform X, the ministry emphasized its condemnation of Netanyahu’s unauthorized presence in the territory of the Syrian Arab Republic. The statement described his entry as a “grave violation” of the country’s sovereignty and integrity, asserting that it also contravenes international law.
The ministry further expressed concern over Israel’s ongoing incursions and military operations in Syria. Such activities, according to the ministry, are exacerbating tensions in the region and undermining security and stability.
Kuwait’s Foreign Ministry highlighted that Israel’s persistent actions in Syria pose a significant threat to regional security. It called on the international community to adopt a firm stance against such actions and to ensure respect for Syria’s sovereignty.
This statement comes amid rising tensions in the Middle East, where Arab nations have consistently voiced objections to Israeli military activities in Syria. Kuwait underscored that respecting Syria’s territorial integrity and sovereignty is a crucial aspect of international law.
Netanyahu’s visit included meetings with Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz and IDF Deputy Chief of Staff Major General Tamir Yadai in the Israeli-occupied southern region of Syria. During the visit, Netanyahu claimed that Israel has successfully maintained control over strategically important sites. Israeli forces are stationed in what is referred to as a security zone in southern Syria, having advanced into the country’s interior following the ousting of long-time leader Bashar al-Assad in December 2024.
Israel occupies an area that was previously a United Nations-monitored buffer zone, which has separated Israeli and Syrian forces since 1974.
