Ranchi, September 10 (Daily Kiran) : The Jharkhand government has lifted the suspension of IAS officer Vinay Kumar Chaube, who was accused in both a liquor scam and a land scam in Hazaribagh. Chaube was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in 2025 in connection with the liquor scandal, leading to his suspension. He was later implicated in the land scam as well.
Following his release on regular bail from various cases, the government reviewed the duration of his suspension and decided to terminate it. After the suspension was lifted, Chaube resumed his duties in the Department of Personnel, Administrative Reforms, and Official Language.
Chaube faces allegations of causing financial losses to the state during the implementation of the previous liquor policy and providing undue benefits to private companies. Investigations by the ACB suggest that he conspired with private manpower agencies, resulting in significant damage to the state treasury.
After his arrest, Chaube was placed in judicial custody. He is also facing two additional cases related to land mutation. According to the investigation agencies, he allegedly abused his position to approve land mutations based on fraudulent documents. In another case, it is claimed that mutations were executed for valuable lands in the names of his close associates and relatives, disregarding established regulations.
Having secured regular bail in these cases, Chaube is now back at work in the personnel department. However, the government has yet to assign him new responsibilities or a formal posting. The final decision regarding the allegations against him will be made only after the judicial process concludes.
