Jind, July 17: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated India’s first hydrogen train on Friday at the Jind railway station in Haryana. This train is among the longest and most powerful hydrogen trains in the world. Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw were also present at the event.
The hydrogen train departed from Jind to Sonipat after the Prime Minister waved the green flag. Following this, he acknowledged the cheers from the crowd and students gathered at the station. A large number of people were present on the second platform.
As the first hydrogen train began its journey, school children experienced ‘green transport.’ Excited students waved the national flag while embarking on the hydrogen train ride.
Later, at an event held at the Eklavya Stadium in Jind, PM Modi laid the foundation for various development projects worth approximately ₹14,700 crores, dedicating them to the nation. Upon his arrival, the Haryana Chief Minister welcomed him with a traditional turban and presented gifts.
PM Modi dedicated the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway, a four-lane, fully accessible road spanning 157.92 kilometers, developed at a cost of around ₹9,680 crores. This expressway will reduce travel time between Delhi and Katra from about 14 hours to approximately 6 hours, while the journey from Delhi to Amritsar will be cut down from 8 hours to 4 hours. He also inaugurated the 33.81-kilometer-long, partially controlled-access Ambala-Kala Amb highway on National Highway-7 and National Highway-344.
Other significant projects included the inauguration of the 40.60-kilometer-long Jind-Gohana Greenfield highway on National Highway-352A and the foundation laying for the Hansi-Barwala Brownfield highway project.
