New Delhi, June 23: The Indian Navy’s advanced warship, the stealth frigate INS Tarkash, has successfully completed its mission in Mauritius. After an impactful visit to the capital, Port Louis, the ship is now set to continue its operational deployment in the southwestern Indian Ocean region. This journey was not merely a naval stop but a vibrant display of the strengthening maritime cooperation, cultural ties, and strategic partnership between India and Mauritius.
During its stay in Port Louis, INS Tarkash became the center of several activities. A volleyball match was organized between the ship’s crew and personnel from the Mauritius National Coast Guard, showcasing both competition and camaraderie.
Additionally, Indian Navy experts contributed to enhancing maritime security capabilities by providing professional training to Mauritian security personnel. On the occasion of International Yoga Day, a special yoga session was held on the ship’s deck. Indian sailors and members of the Mauritius National Coast Guard practiced yoga together, promoting health, discipline, and cultural unity.
The event, held amidst the waves of the Indian Ocean, attracted significant attention. On June 21, INS Tarkash opened its doors to the public, allowing approximately 450 visitors to tour the ship and closely observe the Indian Navy’s modern technology, combat capabilities, and professional excellence. Both Indian-origin migrants and local citizens felt a strengthened emotional connection with India during their visit.
During the voyage, the commanding officer of INS Tarkash, Captain Rohit Mishra, met with Mauritius’ Police Commissioner Ramperasad Sooroojebally and India’s High Commissioner Anurag Srivastava. These meetings reinforced the growing dimensions of security and cooperation between the two nations.
This mission of INS Tarkash once again demonstrates that India’s naval presence extends beyond security; it serves as a bridge of trust, cooperation, and shared progress with friendly nations. This successful stop in Mauritius is viewed as a significant step towards advancing India’s vision of ‘Oceans’ and promoting peace, security, and shared development in the Indian Ocean region.
