Itanagar, April 24: The Spearhead Division of the Indian Army has launched a large-scale cleanliness drive in the Siom, Subansiri, and Siang valleys of Arunachal Pradesh as part of its community outreach efforts.

Defense spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mahendra Rawat stated that this initiative reflects the Army’s ongoing commitment to environmental preservation and the welfare of communities living in remote border areas.

He noted that local residents participated enthusiastically, showcasing their shared responsibility for maintaining cleanliness and preserving the region’s natural beauty.

The campaign, themed “Clean Environment, Empowered Community,” emphasized the importance of clean public spaces in promoting health, hygiene, and civic pride.

Alongside the cleanliness drive, awareness sessions were conducted to encourage residents to adopt eco-friendly practices and actively contribute to creating a clean and healthy environment.

The spokesperson highlighted that this initiative underscores that cleanliness is not only essential for public welfare but also a collective duty that strengthens community spirit and social harmony.

In Mizoram, under a commendable initiative promoting inclusivity and social engagement, the Assam Rifles organized an interaction session with specially-abled students from the state’s ‘Shalom Special School.’

On Thursday, at the Lok Bhavan in Aizawl, Governor General Vijay Kumar Singh (Retd.) engaged with specially-abled students from Serchhip district.

Lieutenant Colonel Rawat explained that this interaction was part of an educational tour program organized by the Assam Rifles for 18 students and five teachers from Serchhip district.

During the session, the Governor conversed with the students, appreciating their enthusiasm and encouraging them to pursue their dreams and goals with confidence.

The event concluded with a positive message, leaving a lasting impression on the students and further strengthening efforts towards their welfare and overall development.

The defense spokesperson noted that the Assam Rifles is fully committed to enhancing civil-military relations and contributing to the development of the region’s society.
