New Delhi, August 22: The Indian Army has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with a group of educational institutions in Karnataka. This agreement will provide special tuition fee discounts for eligible children of active and retired personnel.
On social media, the Indian Army stated, “The Indian Army has signed an MoU with Guru Nanak Group of Institutions in Bidar, Karnataka, to enhance educational opportunities for the children of our soldiers and support their aspirations for a brighter future.”
The MoU stipulates that the institutions will offer special fee concessions for eligible children of serving and retired Indian Army personnel. This includes increased support for the children of those who made the ultimate sacrifice and for individuals with disabilities.
This initiative reflects the Indian Army’s ongoing commitment to the welfare and education of its personnel and their families.
In a separate event, Army Chief General Dheeraj Seth honored three distinguished veterans with the Warrior Service Award during a retired officers’ seminar in New Delhi.
According to a statement, one of the honored veterans, Lieutenant Colonel BMS Bains (Retd), was recognized for his dedication to the welfare of veterans and their families in Hoshiarpur and surrounding areas. He has assisted over 70,000 veterans and families with pension and legal issues and facilitated access to ECHS for more than 52,000 retired personnel.
He has also contributed to social welfare through initiatives supporting underprivileged and especially disabled children.
Other honored veterans include Naib Subedar Khagen Chandra Das (Retd), who was commended for his relentless work in remote areas of Tamulpur, reaching out to over 250 isolated veterans and strengthening their access to welfare agencies and institutional support.
Havildar Anup Kumar Mahto (Retd) was recognized by the Army Chief for his commitment to empowering underprivileged youth in West Bengal and Jharkhand.
